The journey.....

NZ Bio Forestry journey towards renewable energy using sustainable forests

In business, it's always worth taking a moment to reflect on the journey we've been on — not just to celebrate the wins but to absorb the lessons along the way that have shaped where we are today.

It’s almost hard to believe as we’re closing in on six years ( delayed 2.5 years due to COVID-19) since we embarked on this journey. And what a ride it’s been! We've achieved a lot, and trust us, there’s so much more ahead of us.

As many of you know, our mission is to unlock new ways to monetise our productive forests, and that’s exactly what NZ Bio Forestry is all about. We're a partnership between New Zealand, Taiwan, and Singapore, and we’ve set our sights on capitalising on the green decarbonisation market. Our tech is focused on utilising the whole tree — carbon, fibre, and sugar — to create sustainable, petroleum-free solutions across various sectors like energy, materials, and chemicals.

Our core expertise? We build end-to-end solutions with customers and franchise and license our IP, systems, and business model. We aim to offer investors fantastic returns while providing our customers with industry-leading products that help them reduce CO2 emissions and their overall greenhouse gas footprint.

We’re currently deep into capital raising, internationally. And we’re working on announcing our first international investment partner and a NZ site partner. These partners bring in more than a site and capital — they’ll also partner with us with infrastructure, product offtake agreements, services, procurement and logistics.

Looking ahead, our plan is ambitious, but it’s entirely within reach. NZ Bio Forestry is part of an IP and Technology Asia-Pacific Group that aims to license 15 bio-facilities across New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region. We’re currently scouting for 4-5 sites within New Zealand, with a goal to lock in the first by 2024/25. We’re aiming for scale, smart logistics, and the infrastructure needed to get these facilities to produce revenue quickly — and sustainably.

With our investment backing, we’re aiming to hit the ground running. Our sales, marketing, and trading operations are slated to kick off in early 2025. Once the first NZ facility is up and running, we’ll start looking beyond — across New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific, the U.S., and Canada.

What is our final destination on this journey? Who knows. What matters most to us is getting started..... fast.  But at the moment, we plan to handle up to 700,000 cubic meters of logs per year, alongside 800,000 cubic meters of forestry waste. These resources will feed into the production of an integrated bio-facility for plywood, materials, biochemicals, and bioenergy, positioning us at the forefront of sustainable forestry solutions that will power tomorrow’s global economy. Yes, it will take some 4 years to fully scale this facility, so we will build modular and scale over the years so we are constantly generating revenue.

The journey is really about discovery and learning about the opportunities. And there are plenty in the biorefinery and renewable forestry sector!

Mā te kimi ka kite, Mā te kite ka mōhio, Mā te mōhio ka mārama

Seek and discover. Discover and know. Know and become enlightened.

Ngā mihi
